Firing Range Noise Suppressor
A world leading International Military Armament Manufacturer taps American Acoustical Products to solve their community noise complaints quickly and economically with a durable weatherproof solution.
This manufacturer assures their products are "out-of-the-box" battlefield ready for our war-fighters by testing their products’ endurance through hundreds of rounds of automatic large caliber firing (50cal /14.5mm & 30cal / 7.62mm) on their outdoor firing range.
With thousands of rounds being fired 5 to 6 days a week, a solution was needed to relieve the surrounding community of the acoustic disturbance that sometimes extended in a 2 to 3 mile radius.
After a site visit, a discussion of acoustic goals and required durability of the solution: American Acoustical Products applications experts specified a suppressor layout and it’s acoustic absorption materials:

Millennium Metal (MM) spaced absorber: as an acoustic absorber and flame proof armor facing spaced 4 inches off the structure backing.

The cavity behind the MM was filled with 4 inches of waterproof, high-temperature, flame resistant acoustic absorption foam.

The system meets OSHA and Military safety requirements.

The acoustic system installed in about a day.
